Radio Campesina began in the spring of 2002, when RaPo provided Chicago-based solidarity group La Voz de Los Abajo with equipment to set up a radio station for the CNTC, in Honduras. The CNTC is the National Center for Rural Workers, an organization dedicated to the development of campesino communities throughout the country. In 2003, RaPo travelled to Honduras to supply their station with more equipment and training.
The station will be used as a tool for community organizing, local education, and spreading awareness about important issues such as land rights. We will continue to support them as their station develops. |
