Culturarte use traditional music, dance, poetry and art to celebrate and promote Zapotec culture. They also work to increase awareness about issues affecting local people such as indigenous people’s rights, land reform law, women’s rights and health. To increase their reach, RaPo provided them with equipment and training to set up and run a low-power FM station covering Juchitán and the surrounding area. Their station is currently the only Zapotec language non-commercial broadcast media in this region. |
